James J. Jacobs

James was born in Rowan County, on January 9, 1941 to the late Thomas James Jacobs and Willie May Miller Jacobs. He is also preceded in death by his only brother, Carl Lee Jacobs.

James proudly served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and tinkering with anything mechanical. He began his career as a apprentice electrician and worked his way up to Assistant Superintendent but his greatest accomplishment and the joy of his life was his son, DaRon.

James is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Ballard Jacobs; son, Robert DaRon Jacobs and his wife Amy R. Jacobs; sister, Hazel Smith; sisters- in- law, Doris Ballard and Janice Ballard; niece, Teresa McCarty; nephews, Tom Cartner, Larry E. Ballard and Ronald Todd Ballard.

Memorial Service will be held at 5:00pm on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Coble Ward- Smith Funeral Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC, 28403 with Rev. Kenneth Long and Rev. Jack Miller officiating. Military Honors will follow provided by the American Legion Honor Guard Post 10.
