

James Kyle Price died peacefully on April 2, 2024 at the age of 81. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who will be remembered for his captivating storytelling and unwavering support for his family.
Jim was born on May 5, 1942 to Emily Johnson Price and James Leon Price in Panama City, Panama. Jim grew up in Panama and graduated from Balboa High School where he forged lifelong friendships. He continued his education at Drake University where he was a valuable member of the football team and graduated with a degree in Political Science.
Jim’s professional journey took him to Southern Wood Piedmont Company in Spartanburg, SC where he ultimately lived for more than 25 years.
Jim’s greatest joy was found in his love for his family. He is survived by his wife, Sadie Charles Spence Price; his two children, Kyle Spence Price and Parmele Price Calame (spouse=Thomas Caldwell Calame); his grandchildren, Thomas Caldwell Calame, Jr. and Sadie Charles Calame; his sister, Edelin Price Alvarez and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jim was an avid follower of his children’s and grandchildren’s sports. He coached Kyle’s t-ball and basketball teams and never missed one of his football games or wrestling matches at the Asheville School. He streamed all of Thomas’s high school basketball games and Sadie Charles’s college lacrosse games.
Jim will be laid to rest in a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Carolinas Chapter, 8508 Park Road #157, Charlotte 28210 (www.crohnscolitisfoundation.org/chapters/carolinas) or a charity of your choice.
