Jo Ann Dunn

Jo Ann Dunn of Wilmington, NC left her earthly body to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. She was born in Wayne County, NC on October 26, 1936 to the late Joseph and Ann Johnson. Jo Ann moved to Wilmington as a teen and graduated from New Hanover High School, where she met her husband, Jerry. Jo Ann and Jerry were married in 1956 and began their journey of raising a family and running a successful business. Shortly after their marriage they opened Hanover Electric Motor Service where both worked tirelessly to ensure that the business succeeded. After retiring, Jo Ann enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and fishing with Jerry. Jo Ann was adamant in providing a loving home where her Baptist faith was ever present. She made Sunday dinners after church and her favorite book was the Bible. Her friends from church and classmates from the NHHS reunions were people that she will always cherish.

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, a daughter, Sarah English and a son, Wesley Dunn. She is survived by her son, Neal Dunn and his wife, Sherri, a daughter Jodi DeLuca and her significant other, Todd Adkins all of Wilmington; grandchildren, Joey Dunn and his wife, Kate, Stephania Vollrath and her husband, Kenny, Nicole Segura and her significant other, Bruce Llyod, Joanna Peterson, and Taylor English, and several great-grandchildren.  

A visitation for Jo Ann will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2022, from 2 pm until her service begins at 3 pm at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Rd. A private interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jo Ann’s memory to Long Leaf Baptist Church, 317 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.
