Retired Sergeant Major, US Army, John Wallace Jenkins died peacefully at home on Sunday, August 12, 2018. In the US Army for over 30 years, John was born in Virginia Beach in 1958, and served a distinguished career in South West Asia, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq.
Over the years, he was presented with the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, Army Achievement Medal, Korean Defense Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, South West Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, and many other accolades for his service.
John leaves behind his wife of 17 years, Rebecca Ayers Jenkins, his devoted daughter Jina Armia, and a son Travis Jenkins.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Greenlawn Memorial Park with full military honors.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
