John Joseph Laico

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice Laico.

Growing up in Brooklyn, he attended East New York Vocational High School and successfully graduated in 1956. He dedicated six years of service to the Army, from January 1962 to January 1968.

John had a deep passion for the ocean, engaging in activities such as fishing, boating, and various water sports. Additionally, as a nature enthusiast, he found joy in hiking, long walks, and particularly cherished spending time gardening. He held his family and grandchildren close to his heart, treasuring every moment spent with them.

John was the beloved husband of Judith Laico, and a devoted father to two daughters, Lisa Bretschneider and Karen Laico. He was also a loving grandfather to Matthew, Julia, and Dylan Bretschneider, and a cherished sibling to Charles Laico and sister Rosemary Caulfied.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturday September 14, 2024 at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd Wilmington, NC 28412.

A Memorial Service will start at 5:00pm in the Coble Chapel.

In honor of John's memory, memorial donations can be made to ALS United North Carolina and the Department of Veterans Affairs in place of flowers.
