John Colonel Luke Jr.

Born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 10, 1959, he was the son of Barbara Proctor Luke and the late John Colonel Luke, SR. of Midland, NC. He graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville with a BS degree in mechanical engineering . John was employed at Terex as a Senior Project Engineer.

John was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where he enjoyed serving as an assistant scout master with Boy Scouts Troop 26. He was also an avid muscle car enthusiast.

In addition to his mother, John is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cheryl Vereen Luke; One son, Alexander Vereen Luke; One sister, Linda Rickenbaker and her husband, Danny; Two brothers: James Luke and his wife, Robin, and Chris Luke and his wife Karen; Nieces and nephews, Melissa Rickenbaker, Bryce Rickenbaker, Jessica Luke, Matthew Luke, and Dylan Rickenbaker; Father and Mother in law, Pearly and Christine Vereen. John and Cheryl are also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 1:00PM at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1401 South College Road Wilmington, NC 28403 with Rev David Wade and Rev. Margaret Hockett officiating.

Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.

A graveside service will be held at New Life Baptist Church Cemetery in Ash, NC. Following the funeral service.
