

He was born in Florida on November 4, 1928 to John and Alice Sharpe.
He was preceded in death by his father John M. Sharpe, mother Alice Elizabeth Boyles, wife Olive Laverne Sharpe, daughter Trudy Gray Sharpe, granddaughter Marsha Sharpe, brothers Leroy, Edwin and sisters, Annie, Polly, Marie, Dorothy, and Betty.
As the loyal servant he proved to be, he faithfully served at Northside Church for 46 years as well as many other previous years at other churches. No matter where he traveled, on Sundays, he always found a place of worship to attend. He loved as he served , by God. Country , and family. We are honored and forever grateful, for he has served in the United States Air Force for 20+ plus years and retiring as a master sergeant and remaining an example of true patriotism.
As a dedicated and loving family man, he enjoyed traveling to visit and spend time with his family and friends no matter the distance. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he has dedicated career as machine operator with General Electric for another 20+ years.
He is survived by his son- Marshall Allen Sharpe, three granddaughters, Marcel, Tammy and Mindy. Three great grandsons, Treven, Braylen and Daniel. Five great grand daughters, Courtney, Dawn, Christine, April and Briana. And seven great great grandchildren.
PallBearers will be: Daniel Hair, Isaiah Jarose, Courtney Sharpe, Christine Wood and Dawn Brown.
A visitation for John will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Northside Church, 2501 N College Rd, Wilmington, NC 28405.
A Funeral Service will start at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 15, 2025. Military Honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, North Carolina 28412.
