Mrs. Juanita Ellis Gibson

Juanita Ellis Gibson, age 94 of Wilmington went home to be one of Gods Angels on April 18th.2015

Born in Sanford North Carolina, on September 21, 1920 she was one of eight children of the late Robert and Allie Ellis. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years. Mr. HL Gibson she is also predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. An avid gardener who won yard of the month, Juanita was proud of her green thumb. She loved her family, her knitting, and he Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 40 years. Juanita spent time knitting and donating dish cloths to all of the new residents at Gresham Place, where she was voted Queen, and was the oldest resident.

She is survived by one sister Mildred Howard of Sanford, two daughters Carolyn Leitch (Jerry) and Vickie Porter (Chief). Three grandchildren LaDonna Tartt (Sandy), Ashley Shearin (Kevin), John Allen III (Angela), and step grandson Sonny Porter (Stephanie). Four great grandchildren, Wesley Tartt, Addison Tartt, Riley Allen, Colin Shearin, and two step-great-grandchildren Jaxon, and Colby Livings. She shared many friendships throughout her life and one special friend of fifty years, Annie Black. A visitation will be held Monday April 20, 2015 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service from 6-8pm. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday April 21st at Oleander Memorial Gardens at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
