

Julia Elizabeth Long Goodman, 95, of Wilmington, NC, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center. She was born in Paris, TX, February 9, 1914, daughter of the late Calhoun Ambrose Long and Julia Ford Russell Long, and spent most of her life in Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Goodman was a graduate of Georgia State University and was a space analyst for GSA Government Service Administration, retiring with over forty years of service. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Wilmington. Surviving is her daughter, Judith Calhoun Goodman Fulk and husband, Dr. R.V. Fulk, Jr. of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Amanda Russell Jette Fulk of Wilmington, and Robert Vernon Fulk, III and wife, Monica of Toronto, Canada; two sisters, Ruth Long Alverson and Mary Jane Irwin and husband, Willis all of Atlanta; a niece, Patricia Alverson Kelly of Atlanta; a great-niece, Caroline Kelly Burdette and husband, David of Atlanta; two great-great-nieces, Kaelin James Burdette and Reese Campbell Burdette; and her devoted caregiver, Laurie Doody. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goodman was preceded in death by her her son, John Boyd Goodman, a brother, Calhoun Ambrose Long, Jr. and a sister, Louise Long Ashley. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009, at St. James Episcopal Church, 25 S. 3rd Street, Wilmington, NC, by The Rev. Stephen Mazingo. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. James Episcopal Church at the above address, or the Julia & John Boyd Goodman Fund at Thalian Hall, 310 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, NC, 28401.
