In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Ruby Roller; brothers: W.O. Nelson and Robert Nelson and his son-in-law Robert Ryninger.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Logan Nelson of the home; two daughters: Vickie Booth and husband William and Vonda Ryninger, all of Apex, NC; three grandchildren: Camma Barnhill and husband Van, Will Booth and Hannah Ryninger and two great-grandchildren: Mary Bennett Barnhill and Evelynn Bea Barnhill.
He faithfully served his church community for over 40 years in various ways. He was a deacon, Sunday School Director, and proud member of the Faithful Men choral group. He also worked as the service director at Cape Fear Ford for over 20 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
The Funeral Service will be held at noon on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Coble Funeral & Cremation Services at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Billy Batten officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
