Kevin Dennis Morris was born on April 22, 1954, in the Bronx, New York, to Rev. James A. Morris Sr. and Virginia Angelina Morris, both of whom preceded him in death. Kevin’s fun-loving and joyful personality won the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of meeting him wherever he went.
Raised in New York City, Kevin attended PS (Public School) #42, Junior High School #198, and Far Rockaway High School. After high school, Kevin served in the United States Navy at Naval Station Great Lakes in Great Lakes, Illinois. For the next several decades, he established a very successful and lengthy career in pest control services and was the proprietor of Morris Pest Control until his retirement in 2019 while residing in Wilmington, North Carolina.
In 1986, Kevin was blessed with a son, whom he named Kevin Dennis Gregory, with Deardra Gregory. Later, in 2006, he was further blessed with a grandson, Jason Gregory, whom he cherished deeply.
Kevin enjoyed watching sports and attending baseball and basketball games, supporting his beloved New York teams: the Yankees, Knicks, and Nets.
Kevin accepted Christ at a young age and continued his life’s journey with God until his earthly departure.
Early in the morning on May 26, 2023, Kevin Dennis Morris entered into eternal life.
Kevin was a loving father, a proud grandfather, a wonderful uncle, son, brother, cousin, and friend. Kevin’s big smile, humorous laughter, and kind, generous nature will be profoundly missed, but we are comforted in knowing that he is resting in the arms of the Savior.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Linda R. Morris; uncles, Donald Hankins, Reyes Martinez, and Birdell Hankins; and aunts, Sodonia Luckie, Frances Jarvis, Bertha Strother, Gertrude Joiner, Ruby Gardner, and Pearl Pinner. Left to cherish his sweet memories are his son, Kevin Dennis Gregory; grandson, Jason Gregory; brothers, James A. Morris Jr., Clarence Caldwell, and Timothy Morris; sisters, Edith Caldwell and Judith Caldwell; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1-2pm on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Coble Funeral Service, 1155 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC. The Funeral Service will begin promptly at 2pm with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Military Honors.
