Lessie C Carter

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford Carter, her brothers Jesse Leverne Costin, Ebern Enos “Sandy” Costin, twin sister Bessie Costin Harris, son Lynwood Hugh “Speedy” Keith, and granddaughter Kimberly Jane Keith.

She is survived by her sons Jeffrey Carter (Dawn) and Andrew Costin Keith (Belinda) and her daughter Linda Keith Carroll (Robert); all of Wilmington. Lessie is also survived by her step-sons Dennis Carter (Pat) of Charlotte, NC, Randall Carter (Cynthia) of Matthews, NC, and step-daughter Sheila Carter Walker of Wilmington. She had grandchildren: Kaiya Carter, Tiffany Keith, Luke Carter, Wayne Keith, Lila Carter, Koen Carter, step granddaughter Anna Carter, and step grandsons Daniel Carter, Stephen Carter, Jameson Carter, Garrett Carter, and Hunter Carter.

She retired from Coble Funeral Home after a number of years of service. Prior to that she was the school crossing guard at Alderman School. She was a long time member of Pine Valley Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lessie’s memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

Her funeral service will be Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 12:00 noon at Coble Funeral Home. Visitation will be 11:00 AM to noon prior to the service. She will be buried in the Mausoleum at Greenlawn Cemetery.
