Margaret Marsengill Gardner

Margaret Marsengill Gardner, 76, of Hampstead, died Thursday, January 17, 2019 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  Margaret was born April 25, 1942 in Clayton GA, daughter of the late Raymond and Florence Taylor Marsengill. 

Margaret loved her family and extended family.  She was an avid angler and her favorite pass time was to fish on Surf City Pier with her husband, family and friends. 

She is survived by her husband, Sidney Blair Gardner; 4 step-children, Robert B. Gardner (Kathy) of Cherryville, NC; Kenneth E. Gardner (Wanda) of Chester, VA,  Kathy Stewart (Tim) of Mocksville, NC and Pamela Anderson (Steve) of Kernersville, NC; 3 sisters, Rose Hudson of Michigan, Dot Shehulski of Georgia and Mary Jones (Steve) of Taylorsville, NC; 9 step-grandchildren, 17 step-great grandchildren and 4 step-great-great-grandchildren; 7 nieces and nephews, 11 great-nieces and nephews and 11 great-great-nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Walkertown First Baptist Church; 5185 Sullivantown Rd., Walkertown, NC with Rev. Walker Armstrong officiating.  Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until the service hour. 

A second receiving of friends will be held at Chapel By The Bay, 215 Michigan Ave, Surf City, NC, 29445 on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in the Church Fellowship Hall. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Margaret's memory may be made to Chapel By The Bay.
