
She was born in Kenansville, NC on October 5, 1919 to the late J. Lestie Williams and Mary Newton Williams.
Marie grew up as a member of Grove Presbyterian Church in Kenansville and later she and her husband Sy moved their membership to St. Andrews Covenant Presbyterian Church in Wilmington.
Marie attended Peace College in Raleigh; her career led her to J.P. Stevens in New York City and Scripto in Atlanta, GA. She had a sharp wit and was fiercely independent. She loved gardening, crossword puzzles, Carolina basketball, and her pets. Marie had a special love for her friends and family and they all will miss her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her husband Seymour Teitelbaum, sisters Margaret Williams and Ruth W. Adams, and niece Joyce A. Hardison.
Marie is survived by her niece, Nancy Musselwhite Potts (Phil), great nieces Julia Lammert (Brent), Leslie Musselwhite, Sheri Schisholm (Brock), Tracy Kiesel (Craig); great nephews Sean Hardison (Jennifer) and Neill “Whit” Musselwhite, 13 great-greats, and her cat Slate. The family gratefully acknowledges the wonderful care provided by Jennifer Burridge and by Dr. Neill H. Musselwhite.
A visitation will be at 10 AM on Saturday, February 11 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 at the same location, officiated by Rev. Robert Lapp. A private burial will be announced at a later date at Golden Grove Cemetery in Kenansville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrews Covenant Presbyterian Church or to a charity of your choice.
