Michael Lewis Harrell

Michael (Mike) Lewis Harrell departed his earthly life during the morning of Tuesday, October 7, 2025, while at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.  Mike was born on August 9, 1954 to Wilfred (Wimp) and Betty Jo Loggains Harrell of Greensboro, NC

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Ryan Harrell and wife Peyton, grandson, Slate, granddaughter, Blakeley of Charlotte; son, Bradley Harrell and wife Candace, grandson, Aiden, granddaughter, Alayna of Leland; "daughter", Kellen Simpson and husband Caden, grandson, Alsea, granddaughters, Lily and Cyndil of Burgaw; brother, David Harrell of Phelan, California; sister, Dawn Harrell of Kernersville; niece, Blair Garrison of Greensboro; nephew, Greg Harrell of Danville, Virginia; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins; companion, Frances Phillips of Wilmington; special friends, Connie and Norman Brooks of Wilmington; special caregivers, Gloria Mondragon, Sonya Caldwell, Sharon Bryant, Ali Morales, LShanna  Hooper, and Lori Leggett.

A talented athlete in his younger years, Mike was a lifelong football and baseball fan, which he passed on to his sons and their friends by encouraging, supporting, and coaching their youth sports programs.

Mike spent the majority of his working years (30) with Coca-Cola Consolidated and Wilmington Coca-Cola Bottling Works beginning in Greensboro, then Kinston, before settling in Wilmington. He began his career driving a Coca-Cola route truck and worked his way up to the Branch Sales Manager.  Mike was a faithful, loyal, and lifelong Coca-Cola Brand supporter.

With a curious mind and open heart, he was a man who made those around him feel valued and loved, leaving all of us wishing for more time with him.   Mike was truly one of the good ones - his legacy of kindness and generosity lives on in everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Andrews Mortuary Chapel, 1617 Market St., Wilmington.  The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
