
He was the second of three children born to Hyman and Doris Zerden Kramer. He was born October 7, 1954, in Columbus County Hospital.
Michael attended Whiteville High School and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Art.
Michael was a partner in his family business, Kramer's of Whiteville, which he helped manage for 38 years until it closed in 2007 after 89 years.
Michael was a well regarded artist whose art has a strong sense of color and an unusual flair. He enjoyed golf, the stock market, and fine dining.
He was a wonderful husband, a loving father and a good friend.
Michael is survived by his wife of 28 years, Terry Tilles Kramer; one daughter Leah Stephanie Kramer of Atlanta, Georgia; one son Joshua Ian Kramer of Athens, Georgia. Also surviving are a brother Gary N. Kramer of Whiteville (Robin); and sister, Celia Kramer Chase of Atlanta, Georgia; mother-in-law, Elaine Tilles of Baltimore, Maryland; sister-in-law Karen Tilles Grimm of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother-in-law Marc Tilles of Baltimore, Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 P.M. Thursday January 3rd, at B'Nai Israel Synagogue, 2601 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, NC. Burial will be at the B'Nai Israel Cemetery.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the Columbus County Arts Council, Columbus County Humane Society, the Columbus County Community Foundation, or the charity of one's choice .
