Michael (Skinny) was born on March 23, 1951 to Alex and Lizzie Lewis in Wilmington NC and was preceded in death by them both. He was their only son. His four sisters, Nancy, Frances, Vickie, his twin, and Kathy were all in each of their ways, very special to him and brought much to his life. He was the *crazy Uncle Mike* to their own children, who took the time to make them feel how important they each were to him.
Michael was a 1970 graduate of New Hanover High School and was a member of the varsity baseball team. He was *fast as lightning when he ran and could turn a quick double play* He also played Post 10 Ball and softball for various teams until he started his family. After graduation from High School he began his career with E. I. Dupont and Company, which eventually became Dak Americas. He was with Dupont 31 years and Dak 10 until his retirement.
His dedication and dependablility were evident in his work and family ethic. If he said it, he did it. He took great joy in sharing his love of golf and all things Disney. His last trip to Disney was November 2011.He retired from work, spending time with his family, enjoying the beach, golf and supporting youth sports.
His wife of 35 years, Denise Rivenbark Lewis and his daughters, Megan and Katie Lewis were his all. They are so very proud of his life's work, the ethics he passed on and his dedication to a job once started. His *Girls* were never in want for love and encouragement and for this they thank him. Skinny was a kind, simple man, unassuming and gentle. He loved his family, his home and his friends. He leaves us all better for having crossed his path.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 6th from 6pm to 8 pm at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home. The funeral will be performed Thursday, March 7th at 1 pm at Union Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Delco, N.C. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
