

Myrtle Mae Bryan Padrick March 9, 1917 - April 9, 2015 Myrtle Mae Bryan Padrick, age 98, of Wilmington, peacefully died April 9 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Mrs. Padrick was born March 9, 1917 in Wilmington. She was one of six predeceased daughters of Joseph Sylvester Bryan and Gertrude Hewitt Bryan of Wilmington. Deaconess Emeritus at First Christian Church, she served as Sunday School teacher of the Ambassador Class for over forty years and as a Building Committee trustee for the First Christian Church complex on Oleander Drive and Mimosa Place. Prior to retiring Mrs. Padrick was secretary for Kelly Jewel Real Estate. She taught kindergarten in the 1950's. During the 1940's she owned and operated a drug store on Fourth and Meares Streets in "Dry Pond" with her husband R. M. Padrick, Jr. Predeceased by her husband of 68 years, she is survived by two sons, Richard Bryan Padrick and his wife, Betty, of Brevard, NC, and Joseph Michael Padrick of the home. Surviving in addition to her sons are two grandsons, Michael Bryan Padrick and his wife, Karen, of Farnham, England, and Richard Gregory Padrick and his wife, Jennifer, of Westminster, Maryland, and three great-grandchildren, Emma, Alice, and Finleigh. An excellent homemaker, she loved cooking, baking and gardening. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. A private service for family and friends will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Oakdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Christian Church, 2035 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403, or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. Back at home, her beloved cats, Prissy, Buddy and Sammy can be found lying on her bed or playing on a nearby rug silently awaiting her return.
