

She was born in Sampson County, NC on June 6, 1935 to Preston E. Rivenbark and Etta M. Cockman.
She is preceded in death by her Husband, George Albury; Father and Mother, Preston E. Rivenbark and Etta M. Rivenbark; Brothers and Sisters, Preston E. Rivenbark, Elizabeth Taylor, Francis Rivenbark, Joseph Rivenbark, Bobby Rivenbark, Jimmy Rivenbark, Linwood Rivenbark, Wayland Rivenbark and Rupert Rivenbark.
After High School graduation, Nelva went to work at Timmie Corp. where she became a Textile Supervisor for many years and was Union President. She worked there for 26 years. She moved to Surf City officially in 1987. She was on the council in Surf City for 24 years and Mayor Pro Tem for 8 years. July 1, 2006 was named Nelva Rivenbark Albury Day. She also served on the Board of Transportation for many Years. She had a vision of having a park on the north side of Surf City, so in the early 2000s a park was dedicated in her name for all the children to enjoy. She was also the first and only woman on council for many years in Surf City.
She was loved by everyone who knew her. She loved the Town of Surf City, Citizens and employees.
She was a member of Surf City Baptist Church in Surf City. She was a faithful servant of the Lord.
She was the best Mother, Memaw, Sister, and Wife. She loved to travel with her best friends. She loved her family and was always the glue to keep us together.
Nelva is survived by her Daughter, Earlene Graham; Son-in-Law, Michael Kenneway, Sr.; Granddaughter, Stephanie Kenneway (Austin Adkins); Grandson, Michael Kenneway, Jr.; Sister, Charlotte Lanier and Connie Pittman (Gene Pittman) and Brother, Donald Rivenbark. She had a great love for her many Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation for Nelva will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, North Carolina 28412.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park Chapel with Pastor Don Horne officiating. An entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Earlene Graham at 9066 9th Street, Surf City, NC 28445 for a Memorial bench to be placed at her park.
