Patricia Wood Brown

She was born September 3, 1936, in Kenley, NC, to the late Garry and Eloise Wood.

Pat was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was devoted to her family, shopping, spending time with her friends and caring for others.

She graduated from New Hanover High School in 1954.  Pat was a member of First Baptist Church, Wilmington, NC, and was also a member of the Wilmington Woman’s Club for many years.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Edward Brown, Jr. “Dick”, her only son, Richard Edward Brown III “Ed”, and her grandson, Mervin Glenn Stone III.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Castiglioni (Bill), Cheryl Stone Cox, Kim Mears (Gene).  Grandchildren, Jessica Coker Gilmore (Brian), Jordan Coker (Kylie), Gracie Cox, Madison Mears (Minh) and Trinity Mears.  She leaves behind her beloved dog Casey.  Also included are a multitude of extended family and a host of long time devoted friends.

The service will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 11:00 am at Andrews Valley Chapel.  Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10am.  Burial will follow at the Monroe Lee Family Cemetery, 342 Monroe Lane, Benson, (Meadow exit off of I 40) NC at 2:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Reverend Richard Edward Brown, Sr. scholarship fund at Cape Fear Community College, 411 N. Front St, Wilmington, NC  28401 or to your local Humane Society in honor of her love for dogs.

The family certainly understand that with Covid precautions, not everyone will be attending the service or burial.  The family ask that while indoors at Andrews, please wear a mask.
