Phyllis was a lifelong award winning, talented artist and her creative abilities were endless. She often said her children were the greatest of all her many creations. Those who visited her home often left feeling as though they had visited a small art museum.
She was a courageous woman whose strength was endless at 28, raising 3 children alone after the sudden and tragic death of her children’s Father. She was hard working and a great asset to the Waccamaw Art Guild in South Carolina for many years. She was a great listener and advisor to her family and also worked as a volunteer for many years at the Bristol Virginia Crisis Center in her earlier years. She was a member of the Scenic Park Baptist Church in Bristol, Virginia.
She will be dearly missed and never forgotten for all who were privileged to know and love her. A special thank you to Well Care and Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice. Additionally, the family would like to extend a special thanks to Brooke, Home Health Nurse with Well Care, Mary and the entire staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Doug with Andrews Mortuary.
She will be laid to rest at Sea Lawn Cemetery in Hampstead after a private descendants only funeral service on February 23rd hosted by Andrews Mortuary and officiated by Cam Thomas. A celebration of life for Phyllis and her husband will be held at a later date for distant family and friends.
Donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare at 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401. Surf City Florist of Hampstead will be in charge of all flower arrangements.
