Robert Wayne Phillips, “Wayne,” passed away in Hampstead on October 22, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born in Greenville, SC on August 2, 1949; son of the late Thomas Jerry Phillips and Helen Irene Summers.
Wayne enjoyed working in his yard, especially caring for his camellias and working with rock formations. After a long day in the yard, he would spend time relaxing by updating his family genealogy.
He is survived by his wife, Doris (Joye) Phillips; 2 sons, Robert Phillips (Karen) and Timothy Phillips (Heather); daughter, Kelly Phillips Erb (Chris); 11 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren and his Life-long friend, James Gerock (Debbie).
Wayne’s family will celebrate his life on Monday, October 27, 2025, beginning with 1:00 pm, visitation followed by 2:00 pm memorial service at Winter Park Baptist Church, 4700 Wrightsville Ave, Wilmington, NC 28403
Family requests no flowers but donations sent in Wayne’s memory to the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, www.bchfamily.org would be greatly appreciated.
