Ronald H. Guthrie, 76, of Wilmington, NC, departed this earth August 24, 2009 to fly with the angels. Ronald was a caring giving man who cared more for the people around him than he did for himself. His love for the human condition as well as animals made him a rare breed among humans. He shall sorely be missed. Rest well, we shall see you in glory. He was born on September 8, 1932 in Wilmington, the son of the late Matthew and Alma Louise Pridgen Guthrie. Mr. Guthrie was a veteran of the US Navy having served during the Korean War. He retired from New Hanover Regional Medical center after 22 years. Surviving is one brother, Joseph Guthrie and wife Lynn; one sister, Lynn Filipowicz and husband Charlie; his best friend, Henry Chisholm; three nieces; one nephew. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 am prior to the service at Andrews Market Chapel.
