Ruth Christine Jordan Ramsey

Ruth Christine Jordan Ramsey, 82, of Leland, passed away on January 12, 2009. Ruth was born on July 6, 1926, in Columbus County to the late Henry R. and Ruth Reynolds Jordan. She retired from Spirittine Exterminating Co. after 38 years of service and was a member of Long Beach VFW. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer F. Ramsey, Sr.; one grandson, Louis R. Ramsey, Jr., two brothers and one sister. She is survived by four children, Elmer F. Ramsey, Jr. and his wife Denise, Robert W. Ramsey, Sr. and wife Lucille, Louis R. Ramsey, Sr. and wife Wanda and Patricia Ramsey Norris and husband Tony; seven grandchildren, Tammy Ramsey Milliken, Belinda Ramsey Child, Sharon Norris, Robert W. Ramsey, Jr., Chris D. Ramsey, Sr., Tracy L. Ramsey and Stacy C. Norris; fifteen great grandchildren, Terry L. Ramsey, Christy J. Child, Robert W. Ramsey III, Kristyn F. Ramsey, Ethan R. Child, Ryan K. Ramsey, Tosha D. Ramsey, Karlie C. Milliken, Hailey M. Milliken, Crystal M. Ramsey, Chris D. Ramsey, Jr., Amber R. Ramsey, Alyssa M. Norris, Reagan K. Norris and Timmy D. Child; two great-great grandchildren, Katelyn E. Ramsey and Mickell L. Ramsey; four sisters, Virginia Moore Simmons, Evelyn Sasser, Gladys Ezzell and Lois Williamson and a very special friend, Earl Bowen. Pallbearers will be Robert W. Ramsey, Jr., Robert W. Ramsey III, Chris D. Ramsey, Sr., Terry L. Ramsey, Ethan R. Child and Kevin Milliken. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard V. Hanson, Sr., Richard V. Hanson, Jr., Clinton Howlett and V.A. Creech, Jr. The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, from 5:30-7:00pm, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel and at other times at 9858 Wayne St., Leland. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at Love Ministry, 1444 Lanvale Rd., Leland, NC. The Reverends Kenneth Emmanuel and Roy Coleman will preside. Burial will take place at Flynn Cemetery in Whiteville, following the service.
