

He was born Aug. 4th, 1939, in Wilmington to late Benny and Gladys Melton.
Thomas attended Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute in Hendersonville NC and was ordained into the ministry on 3/21/1970 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Wilmington N.C. In a service presided over by Brother Bob Jernigan and Brother Bob Taylor. During his career in ministry Thomas pastored 6 different churches in and around the Wilmington area.
His interests included family, computers, and collecting anything electronic. We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Trinity Grove nursing facility for their loving care of our father during his extended illness.
Surviving are the love of his life and wife of 52 years Carolyn Melton of Southport, two daughters Betty Jones of Wilmington and Kim Wilkins of White Lake N.C., one son Thomas M. Melton of Wilmington, 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, one brother Donald Melton of Wilmington and two sisters, Evelina Smith of Burgaw and Ruby Golden also of Burgaw. Thomas was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters and a granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday March 16, 2012 at the Coble Ward- Funeral Home, 3915 Oleander Drive Wilmington, NC 28403.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday March 17, 2012 at the Coble Ward- Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Adams officiating.
Donations may be sent to Group Health Hospice Care.
