He was born on October 6, 1961 in New Hanover County, NC, son of Susie Sessoms Godwin Wells and the late Gordon Franklin Godwin.
He was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church. He loved to go fishing and was considered the Catfish King of the Northeast Cape Fear River.
He is survived by his mother, Susie Wells; son, David Godwin; best friend, Brooke Godwin; three grandchildren; three sisters, four brothers and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday August 23, 2012 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home, 3915 Oleander Drive Wilmington, NC 28403.
