Wilbur "Wayne" Jackson

Wilbur “Wayne” Jackson, age 71, passed away peacefully in the presence of family January 23, 2026.  He was born November 11, 1954 in Wilmington, NC to his loving parents Wilbur W. and A. Marjorie Jackson (nee Smith). Wayne was raised in Wilmington, attending Hoggard High School and Miller-Motte Community College. Wayne is predeceased by his parents, his sister Wilma Jackson Reed and nephew Richard (Ricky) Treanor. He is survived by his brother-in-law Bruce Reed, nieces and nephews: Mark Treanor (Taylor Treanor and Elizabeth Treanor), Kimberly Treanor, Annie Reed, Jeff Reed, and Brent Reed (Nikki and Natalee, Makenna and Lochlyn).

Wayne was a special person who loved his family. He most enjoyed music, movies, military history, and Mountain Dew.  He was a walking-encyclopedia for each of these topics, but favored classic country, Mel Brooks, and the USN.  Wayne was known for his jokes and quick ‘one-liners’; he loved to make people laugh. He will be remembered by all of us as someone a little incorrigible with a heart of gold.

The family will hold a private, graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, gifts should be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.  Please leave online condolences for the family at Andrews Mortuary.
