William R Orth Jr.

William R. Orth Jr. transitioned to Heaven on Wednesday July 27th, 2022, peacefully at his home in Wilmington, NC. William (Bill) was born, November 27th, 1944, in Boston, MA to William R. Orth Sr, and Anna L. Orth.

Growing up, Bill was the typical Marine son, traveling the country with his siblings, Deb and Dave, while supporting their father as he served our country as a United States Marine. Upon graduation from Syracuse, High School in Syracuse, New York in 1963, Bill enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, following in his fathers’ footsteps. After a successful enlistment, Bill joined the civilian word and continued to grow his family, marrying Lorraine Remillard in 1967 and having four children, Christine, Brian, Suzanne and Thomas. In 1983 Bill remarried Sara Katz in which they had one child, Joseph.

For the rest of his life Bill was known as a loving man and always put his family first. He was an avid golfer, reader, moviegoer, Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and Notre Dame sports fan. He truly loved his family, sports, the Marine Corps and his Catholic faith. Bill was a devout Christian who truly embodied what it was like to be a Catholic man and godfather.

Bill is survived by his wife Sara of 39 years, his five children, Christine (Khanh), Brian (Beth), Suzanne (Christopher), Thomas (Lisa) and Joseph (Leanne), along with his 14 grandchildren, Caitlin, Brayden, Trevor, Tyler, Alyssa, Brian, Isabella, Kaila, Justin, Jackson, Ryan, Sam, Owen, and Weston, his great grandchild Malachi, his sister Deb, and brother Dave (Lisa).
