Surviving are one brother, Joey Ellis and wife, Lori, of Wilson; one nephew, Taylor Ellis of New Bern; his K-9 companion, Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Best Ellis and Linda Ruth Williford Ellis, and a sister, Linda Kay.
