Lillian Marie Joyner Leggins, age 83, of Wilson NC passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Autumn Care of Nashville. She was born November 14, 1941 to the late Arlie Washington Joyner and Lillian Bell Worrell Joyner and was also preceded in death by her husband Donnie H. Leggins.
Marie was known as the Paper Lady and delivered papers for many years for the Wilson Times and other papers. She enjoyed her phone conversations with her sister every night and loved her cats, Mutt and Jeff.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Brenda Joyner and her husband Timmy of Rocky Mount, Peggy Pitt of Rocky Mount and Donna L. Griffin and her husband Calvin of Gloucester, VA, her sister Peggy Pridgen of Wilson, her grandchildren, David, Megan, Jinny, Margaret, Malinda, Hunter and Kylee and her great grandchildren, Chandler, Tate, Lillian, Riggs and Madison.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 2 PM in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Calvin Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service at Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Autumn Care of Nashville and Gentiva Hospice.
