Lillie Rose Evans Sutton, age 84, passed away Tuesday September 2, 2025 unexpectedly after a brief illness . She was born November18, 1940 in Wilson County to the late Rev. Luther Evans and Lily Mae Brantley Evans and was also preceded in death by her husband James N. Sutton and her sister JoAnne Evans Ellis.
Rose was a founding member of Pentecostal Lighthouse Church and loved her bible study group and her taste and see group. She was the former Administrator of Garnett Christian Academy. She loved gardening, loved singing, loved visiting and serving at local nursing homes and she loved JESUS.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Cheryl Parker and her husband Thomas of Elm City, her son Dean Sutton and his wife LaRonda of Watkinsville, GA, her sister Mildred “Snookie” Bennett and her husband Rich of Elm City, four grandchildren, Karen Dowen and her husband Rob, Kelly Dowen, Jayce Sutton and his wife Brianna and Kayla Arnold and her husband Josh, four great grandchildren, Jaxson Batten, Julianne Batten, Skye Dowen and James “Brewer” Sutton.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday September 5, 2025 at 6 PM in the Pentecostal Lighthouse Church, 4403 London Church Rd. Elm City officiated by the Rev. Shawn Garnett, Rev. Stacy Garnett and Rev. Tim Hammond. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11 AM in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
