Peggy Lynn White

Born on July 13, 1952, in Windsor, North Carolina, Lyn was the daughter of the late Obie Wilton White and Peggy Smithwick White. She was also preceded in death by her beloved partner and best friend, Don Spence, Sr.

Lyn devoted her life to caring for others. A graduate of the Roanoke-Chowan Community College Nursing Program, she served for many years as a Registered Nurse at healthcare facilities across North Carolina, from the coast to the mountains. In later years, after returning to her hometown of Windsor, Lyn continued her calling to serve others by transitioning into work as an Emergency Medical Technician. Through her work, she provided comfort, skill, and

compassion to countless individuals.

Lyn’s love for animals—especially her four-legged friends—was well known. She proudly volunteered with the Bertie County Humane Society transporting animals until her health no longer allowed her to continue.

She is survived by her children: Greg Freeman and wife, Tonya, of Colerain, NC; Kirk Freeman and wife, Crystal, of Windsor, NC; and Christy Foy and friend, Jon Michael Alexander, of Merry Hill, NC.

She is also survived by her siblings: Andy White of Harpers Ferry, WV; Susan Lewis and Dorothy White of Windsor, NC; and Delbert White and wife, Helen, of Jamesville, NC. Lyn leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Lauren Stalls and husband, Dustin, of Ahoskie; Chaise Perkins of Charlotte; Dustin Freeman and wife, McKenzie, of Windsor; Kaleigh Freeman of Elizabeth City; Mackenzie Freeman of Edenton; Sydney Freeman of Colerain; and Allen Foy of Windsor, as well as her two beloved great-grandchildren, Lexi Stalls and Carson Stalls of Ahoskie.

In accordance with Lyn’s wishes, no services will be held. A gathering of family and friends will take place later date to celebrate her life.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Kirk Freeman, 142 Red Bud Lane, Windsor, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to the Bertie County Humane Society in Lyn’s honor.
