Susie Vickers

She was preceded in death by her parents; Rossae Lee Whitley and Mamie Webb Whitley, her husband Joseph “J.E.” Vickers, a daughter Elizabeth Ann Ellis, three brothers; Red Whitley, Dan Whitley, Kenneth Whitley and one sister Gail Shirley.

Susie is survived by two sons; Robert Keel (Susan) of Saratoga and James Keel of Wilson, two brothers; John Whitley and Timothy Whitley, one sister Janice Hubbard, six grandchildren Christopher Keel, Brandon Keel, Greg Tugwell, Jamie Lamm, Ericka Keel and Elizabeth Keel, and nine great-grandchildren.

Susie will be remembered for her love of shopping, crossword puzzles, watching the Young and the Restless, and her fascination with hummingbirds. She was a simple lady who loved her family dearly. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 6–8pm at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home in Wilson. A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Stantonsburg Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the physicians and staff at UNC Nash Health Care and UNC REX Hospital for the compassionate care they provided.
