

Mr. Alfus “Alex, Bullfrog” Pittman, Jr., age 53, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. A native of Jefferson, Georgia, he graduated from Jackson County Comprehensive High School, and Virginia Common Wealth University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice and a Master Degree in physical education. He was a former police officer with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and a veteran of the United States Army and Marine Corps.
Mr. Pittman is preceded in death by his father, Mr. Alfus Pittman Sr.
Mr. Pittman is survived by his wife Barbara Pittman of Winder; sons, John (Stacey) Scott of Toleto, OH, Jacob Blackwell of Winder, and Justin Blackwell of Winder; daughters, Katlyn “Rosebud” Benton of Winder, and Kimberly Collins of Gainesville; mother, Annie Bell Pittman of Pendergrass; brothers, Edward Pittman of Pendergrass, Jerry Pittman of Talmo, Willie “Bear” Pittman of Pendergrass, and John Pittman of Gainesville; sisters, Susan Pittman, Brenda Pittman, Linda Pittman all of Pendergrass, and Sally Ross of Pontiac, IL; 4 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM from the Smith Memory Chapel with Rev. Kevin Magness officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Friday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Jefferson, Georgia.
