Grover Thomas

Grover P. Thomas, age 84 of Statham, passed away, Tuesday, December 18, 2018. He was a graduate of Statham High School and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Grover proudly served his country in the Army during The Korean War and The GA National Guard back home. He was an industrial mechanic and retired from R & R Manufacturing and worked at many more textile mills around the county throughout his career. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Irene Aaron Thomas; his wife of 35 plus years, Beverly Buff Thomas and three brothers, Jack, Donald Lee and Tommy Thomas. Grover is survived by a daughter, Deena L. King (Grail) of Winder; a sister, Peggy Garrett of Statham; two brothers, Jerry Thomas of Statham and Tramell Thomas of Monroe; four grandchildren, Branden Tippens, Robbin Bentley, Tiffany Tippens and Kayla Murray and five great-grandchildren, Alayna Tippens, Conner Bentley, Benjamin Gordon, Tyler Bentley and Brantley Tippens. Visitation will be held from 5 until 9PM Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, GA . Funeral services will be at 2PM Friday, December 21, 2018 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, with Bro. Donnie Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
