Harold “Buddy” F. Lyons, age 81, of Bethlehem, GA, passed away October 22, 2012. He was born in Peabody, MA to the late John H. and Beatrice McManus Lyons. Buddy served in the Massachusetts National Guard as Sgt. of the 102nd Field Artillery Battalion and in the United States Navy as Damage Controlman on the USS Mississippi. He worked for National Airlines, PanAm Airlines, Piedmont Airlines and USAir, retiring from both PanAm and UsAir. Buddy was a Mason at the Virginia Beach Lodge, No. 274, A.F. and A.M. In his passing he is reunited with his wife of 59 years, the late Gloria H. Lyons. Buddy was a good Christian man who will be greatly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Lee Williams. The loss of his sweet, gentle presence will be felt by those blessed enough to have known him. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, GA, on Saturday, October 27, 2012 before the service. The service will be held at Smith Funeral Home at 4 PM on Saturday, October 27, 2012 with Reverend Bill Hayes officiating. Interment will be held at Barrow Memorial Gardens. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
