

James William Finch, 95 of Winder, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024. He was a graduate of Winder-Barrow High School, class of 1946. Jim proudly served his country in The US Army for twenty plus years as radio repairman with the Army Signal Corps. After his retirement from the Army, Jim worked with Barrow County, where he retired as a supervisor with the buildings and grounds department. Jim loved the outdoors. He was raised farming, loved to garden and was definitely known for his green thumb. He loved to fix things and you could always find him tinkering with something.
Jim’s parents, Lucious Clyde Finch and Nannie Mae Dunahoo Finch preceded him in death, along with his wife, Margaret Oliver Finch; his children, Ricky Finch and Linda Germaine; and his two brothers, Lamar Finch and Charles Harold Finch. Surviving are his grandchildren: Samara Moore (Ryan), Justin Finch, Neil Finch and Jason Finch; and great-grandchildren: Riley, Erin, and Quinn.
A visitation will be held from 4PM until 6PM Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, GA. Funeral services, with military honors, will be at 2:00PM Sunday, January 28, 2024 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
