

John worked as a dedicated meat cutter and proudly retired from Publix after 26 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, cars, and cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Falcons. Known for his lively spirit and quick humor, John was often the life of the party and could bring light to any moment. He was also a lover of true crime. Above all, he loved his family deeply, especially his loving wife of ten years, Luz Garcia of Winder.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son, John Gordon Harmon of Florida; stepchildren: Bryan Garcia (Haley Garcia) of Braselton, Gisselle Garcia of Winder, Lidia Garcia (Matt Jones) of Monroe, and Alma Garcia (Jesus Marroquin) of Suwanee; siblings: Charles R. Harmon Jr. and Angela Marie Harmon, both of Winder; stepsiblings: Keith Head of Alabama, Julie Bonds of Douglasville, and Diana Darnell of Winston; and step-grandchildren: Leandro Marroquin, Jensen Garcia, and Alita Garcia. He also leaves behind his dearest friends, Ryan and Crystal.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. Harmon Sr. and Dorothy J. Adkins Harmon, and his stepmother, Opal Harmon.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home in Winder, Georgia. Interment will follow in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 am until the service hour.
