K-9 Dax

K9 SGT DAX was born on October 30th, 2014, and commenced duty with the Barrow Sheriff’s Office in 2016. Throughout his service, K9 Dax was pivotal in responding to a multitude of calls encompassing Narcotics, Patrol, and SWAT operations. His contributions aided the Deputies of the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office and various other Law Enforcement Agencies in upholding justice by apprehending countless offenders.

In August 2022, while on duty, K9 Dax sustained injuries and subsequently underwent life-saving surgery, necessitating a period of medical leave. Upon recuperation, K9 Dax retired from active service on September 28, 2022. Tragically, K9 SGT DAX passed away at the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Range on March 4, 2024. Deputy Jacob Stephens, K9 Dax's devoted Handler/Partner, along with his wife Olivia and daughter Charlotte, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, K9 Dax’s multi-agency training unit, and the community fondly remember his loyal service. K9 SGT DAX was the epitome of unflinching courageousness and dedication. K9 SGT DAX will be greatly missed as much as he was greatly loved.

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM.

End of Watch ceremony will be held in Smith Memory Chapel Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
