Leon Baker Sr.

Leon was born December 13, 1944 in Bogart, Georgia to the late Artie Lee and James Thomas Baker. He lived in the Bogart Community all of his life and was a member of Bogart First Baptist Church. Leon had a hobby farm with cows and his pride and joy was tending to his property and home. The Lee property, where Leon lived, was obtained through the land lotteries in the 1820’s and remains in the family to this day.

Leon is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Dorsey Baker; children: Johnny (America) Baker, Jr., Brian (Ashleigh) Baker, Hank (Lori) Baker, and Mitch (Angie) Baker; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Wanda (Buddy) Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Baker, and sisters, Annette Thomas and Betty Young.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Winder on Monday, December 12, 2022. Funeral Services will be held in Smith Memory Chapel at 2:00 pm following the visitation. Pastor Ted Tedder will officiate.
