Raymond Lee Pope, Jr., of Statham, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024. Lee was born in Yadkinville, NC to the late Raymond and Juanita Pope. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer with Silgan Plastics and Manufacturers. Lee was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Camp, and his sister, Brenda Burgess. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frankie Pope. He is also survived by his sons: Alain (Leisha) Pope of Baldwin and Ray (Sara) Pope of Lawrenceville; daughter, Pam Marcum of Winder; sister, Barbara Minish of Commerce; twelve grandchildren, including Landon and Ally Marcum of which he raised as his own; and four great-grandchildren.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, GA. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am in Smith Memory Chapel with the burial to follow at Barrow Memorial Gardens.
