Roberta (Smith) Barwick

Roberta was born in Elbert County on November 27, 1929, to the late John Raymond and Addie Ruth Dixon Smith. She was the oldest of four children. She married John Barwick in 1956 and they remained married until he passed in 2004.

Following graduation from Nancy Hart School, she worked in Elberton for the John McLanahan Company. She later moved to Atlanta and her first job there was as personal assistant to John Harland of the John Harland Company. In 1976 she began working for Tappi Company in Norcross and was there until her retirement in 2005. Roberta was a member of First Baptist Church Winder.

Roberta is survived by two sons, John Barwick and Don Barwick as well as two grandchildren, Donnie Barwick and Ashlee Barwick. She is also survived by her brother Bobby (Arlene) Smith of Lawrenceville, her sister Malinda (Gene) Jernigan of Canton, her sister-in-law Hilda Wilson of Winter Park, Florida, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Roberta was a quiet and peaceful person who loved the Lord and spent her life helping others. She will be missed.

Funeral services will be held at Smith Memory Chapel at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Visitation at Smith Memory Chapel will be from noon until immediately prior to the service.
