Mr. Matthews is preceded in death by his father, Mr. Buckley Matthews in 1974. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jane Lynch Matthews of Winder; mother, Cordelia Eubanks of Commerce; sons and stepsons, Thomas Scott Matthews and Lance (Dana) Antwine of Johns Creek; stepdaughter, Shaune (Rowdy) Escoe of Madison; brother, Robert Matthews of Eatonton; sister Lucille Wilson of Commerce; grandchildren, Zach and Spencer Escoe, Austin and Kaylee Antwine.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Church in Athens, Georgia with Pastor Scott Sheppard officiating.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Mr. Matthews to the Cornerstone Athens Benevolence Fund at 4680 Lexington Road Athens, Georgia 30605
