

Died peacefully on January 5, 2015 at the age of 76 with his children at his side. Dick will be greatly missed by his son Christopher Heward; his daughter Maridee and her husband Kelly Wersta and their daughter, his granddaughter Gracie; his nephew Norm Heward and his wife Sue, and their children Jeff, Adam and Leslie; his step-daughter Nicole and her husband Jeff Chevalier and their daughter Rachel; his beloved former mother-in-law, Mary Libby; his ex-wife and friend Jane Heward; and his lifelong best friend, Monte Sillick, along with many others who knew and loved him. Dick was predeceased by his beloved wife and the love of his life Anne Heward, his big brother Robert Heward and sister-in-law Doris, and his father and mother, Charles and Agnes Heward. Dick was a graduate of Assumption University in engineering with a Masters of Education from Queen’s University. For over thirty years, he was a secondary school physics teacher, finishing his career as a science department head at Riverside Secondary School. Mr. Heward influenced many students and encouraged a love of physics, and was dedicated to his work and his students. He loved teaching and always knew he had chosen the right path. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Windsor Yacht Club (9000 Riverside Dr. East, Windsor) on Saturday, January 10 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario Science Centre, or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
