Danica Chuk

Lovingly known as Cukusa. Born in Brani Dol, Lubimir Bilece on July 27, 1920 to the late Mirko & Milica (Acimovic)Petkovic. Predeceased by her beloved husband Petar (1971). Passed away peacefully at Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus on Monday, December 20, 2010. Loving mother of her daughter Leposava “Lily” Ciganovic & her husband Cedomir, her sons Bogdan “Bob” & his wife Milka and Draza & his wife Denise. Devoted Baba to her grandchildren Nadia Moscardelli & her husband Anthony, Petar Chuk & his wife Natasa, Milan Chuk & his wife Katie and Stevan Ciganovic. Affectionate great-grandmother (Prambaba) of Nikola Moscardelli. Danica, the eldest sibling is survived by her sisters Dostinja Vujnovic & her late husband Aco, Milica Racic & her husband Milos and her brother Zarko Petkovic & his wife Eva and her sister-in-law Radojka Petkovic. Predeceased by her sister Obrenija & her late husband Veljko and her brother Danilo Petkovic. She is dear Kuma to Donna & Blazo Radanovic. She will also be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins and kumovi in Canada, the U.S. and Serbia. Will be greatly missed by her best friend and coffee buddy Rada Chernish. Danica was a member of Kraljica Marija Kolo (Sudbury), the Serb National Federation, Past & Honourary President of Kolo Srpski Sestara Knjeginja Jelena, Drustvo Srpska Kruna Lodge 345, Serbian National Shields Society, Honourary member of the Serbian Singing Society ‘Gracanica’, member of the Gracanica Church, and the Golden Age Club. If desired, memorial donations to Gracanica Choir, the Serbian Heritage Museum, the Serbian Circle of Sisters or to Gracanica Church would be appreciated by the family. Visitation will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 895 Ouellette Avenue, (519) 254-3223 on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., with prayers at 7:30 p.m. Family & friends are asked to gather at Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church, (1960 Meldrum Rd. at Tecumseh Rd. E.) on Thursday, December 23, 2010 from 10:30 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. The Very Rev. Fr. Miroljub Todorovic officiating. Interment Windsor Memorial Gardens. The following describes Danica’s life, “I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me. It is sort of a splendid torch which I have got a hold of for a moment and I want it to burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.” (George Bernard Shaw).
