

GERARD (JANISSE), Helen (nee Mayville), Passed away peacefully into the Lord's hands at Hotel Dieu Hospital, Windsor, Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the age of 93. Daughter of Edward Mayville (1959) and Edna Mayville (1978). Helen was predeceased by loving husband Raymond Denis Janisse (1945) and her loving husband Ernest James Gerard (1993). Cherished sister of the late Thelma (1916), Belva (1994), survived by Mary Anne (Windsor), and Leona (Hemet, California). Loving and caring mother of Robert Janisse and wife Nancy (Tecumseh) Beloved stepmother of Gerald Gerard and wife Susan (Bracebridge), the late Ernest Gerard (2009) and wife Claudia (Gravenhurst). Loving Meme to her grandchildren Brian and wife Keira, Jonathan, Greg and wife Jodi, Kristen, Laura, Michelle, Jordan, and Ernest John. She is also survived by her great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Helen was a former employee of the Roman Catholic Childrens Aid Society, Unemployment Insurance Commission, and Bell Telephone. She and husband Ernest were proprietors of a gas station and restaurant in Trout Creek, Ontario until their retirement in 1972. During their retirement, they spent many years travelling the continent before settling in Essex, Ontario. In most recent years, Helen was an active member of the Westchester Community where she enjoyed swimming, card parties and potluck dinners. She enjoyed spending time with her family and never turned down an invitation for dinner. Helen will be missed by her swimming partners at Westchester. In spite of her physical difficulties, she always remained optimistic. Her love, faith and generosity are an example to all. Special thanks to Jennifer Piche for her kindness, and to staff at CCAC and Red Cross, EMS paramedics, doctors and nurses in the emergency room and ICU during her short stay at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital, special thank-you to Dr. Wayne Albus for his compassion and care over the years. Cremation has taken place and friends and family are invited to visitation at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 385 Dieppe St., Windsor, Friday September 16 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a mass at 11:00 to celebrate Helens life. Fr. Thomas Blondin officiating. If they wish, friends may make a donation to Heart and Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers. .
