Newton, James Robert, 82, died Wednesday, November 7 at Windsor Regional Hospital, Met Campus. He leaves his wife of 56 years, June (Pike) Newton, his daughter Lori Newton, his son Douglas Newton (Donna), and his grandsons Oliver, Andrew and Jeremy. Bob was born and raised in Hamilton, the son of Jimmy and Betty Newton (stepson to Christine Stewart). He met June at a Grey Cup football game in Toronto in 1954 and they were married at the First United Church in Hamilton in 1956. Bob was a member of Grantham Lodge #697 in St. Catharines for more than 50 years, the Hamilton Chapter of Rose Croix, the Moramos Shrine Club Windsor and the Riverside Sportsman Club. An avid boater, he was a long time member and Past Commodore of the Windsor Yacht Club. Memorial Visitation will take place at the Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre, 1969 Wyandotte St. E., 519.252.5711, on Saturday, November 10 from 1pm – 2:30pm.
