Age 97, passed away December 17, 2013, born in Walkerville, late of Windsor. Predeceased by husband William(1996), beloved son Roger(1959), loving mother Florence(1977), father William(1930), and dear brothers Vickery(1975) and Donald(1944). June was aunt to seven nieces and nephews who reside in Colorado. June is survived by her dear, close friend Peri Alan and her family. A private funeral has taken place. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Aunty June. She was always Aunty June to us girls. We loved her like a grandmother. She was an extraordinary woman. Anyone who knew Florence June Graham would tell you, without hesitation, that she had a wicked sense of humor!! For one who dealt with some major life struggles, not least losing her son when he was just 17, June never lost that twinkle in her eye, her love of whistling out big band tunes and that nutty sense of humor. She was tall and gracious with soft cotton white hair and baby blues that sparkled. You could talk to her about anything. Anything. As a 10 year old and brand new to Canada, one of my first memories of that time was sitting on Aunty June and Uncle Bill's porch during the long humid days of Windsor summers, sipping ice cold lemonade and laughing often. She loved the theatre, dining out, excursions of any kind but she never boarded a plane or went anywhere too far from home. Still, she had worldliness about her; regaling stories of her youth and personal life experiences. Whenever she wrote, and that was often, most would marvel at her exquisite penmanship which feels even more poignant now with the steady decline of cursive in today's society. She held our family in high regard and we simply adored her. We never stopped caring for her; she was one of a kind, June. She had guts and strength; great powers of observation and deep faith in her destiny. I hope she has reunited with her son Roger. I can't imagine a more touching scenario. Already deeply missed by Perihan Alan and daughters Shifa, Misli and Jale. Thank you to the wonderful nurses at Huron Lodge for their care and compassion.
