

Reunited with his loving wife Margaret (2007), son David (1987) and daughter Heather (1994). Cherished father of Michael Douglas McTaggart (Glenda), Robert McTaggart (Mary Dunlop), and Janet Winter. Proud Grandpa of Matthew McTaggart, Michelle McTaggart, Ainslee Winter (Hachem), Jocelyn Winter and McKenzie Winter (Quinn). Predeceased by his brother Don McTaggart and sister-in-law Patricia Carroll (Jack). Survived by sister-in-law Pat McTaggart, former son-in-law Ken Winter, and several nieces and nephews.
Doran was devoted to his family and friends providing love, support and encouragement to all those he held dear. Doran dedicated his career to the community serving as a longtime teacher and principal for the Windsor Public School Board and as a member of the Retired Teachers Organization. He served as Master of Ceremonies for many local groups such as Windsor Community Concert Band, Musical Express and the Sun Parlor Chorus and many international contests.
Doran was a lifetime barbershopper who spent 56 years in the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA). Doran was a member of the Merrimadics and Desperate Measures quartets as well as the Sun Parlour Chorus. He was past president of the Windsor Chapter and the Pioneer District and a member of the Barbershop Hall of Fame. Doran is also a founding member of Sing Canada Harmony, an organization that supports his life-long love of music.
He was a faithful member of the Riverside United Church where he was involved in many fundraising initiatives. Doran will be remembered fondly for his ready smile, his easy laugh and his giving nature and for the corny jokes. Timing is everything. May his song always be sung.
Due to the pandemic restrictions, a private family service will take place with a burial at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. A public celebration of his life will take place on later date. Donations in memory of Doran may be made to Sing Canada Harmony or to the Riverside United Church.
