Born to Angus and Clara Hornby in Oshawa, Ontario (and their only child), Melba is predeceased by her parents Angus and Clara, her husband Pastor Enoch “Andy” Anderson and her son Kevin Dale Andersen. She is survived by her loving daughter Karen Anderson (Pam), daughter Karla Anderson Chadwick (Lloyd), son Arlen Anderson (Lynne), grandson Malcolm Chadwick, granddaughter Devon Chadwick, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Melba inspired tremendous affection and admiration in scores of friends across Canada and the United States. She worked for several years as a real estate agent in Woodstock, Richmond Hill, Ottawa, and Windsor, Ontario. She also was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in many U.S. and Canadian towns and cities, most recently in Leamington, Ontario where she served as a church elder in her final years.
Melba is remembered with great love as a genuinely sunny, generous and helpful person who spent nearly a century on Earth selflessly. She lit a light that will never go out in hundreds of hearts.
Her memorial service will be held at Windsor Seventh Day Adventist Church at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10th, 2017. All are welcome. Refreshments to follow.
Flowers (especially the red roses she loved) are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Youth Without Shelter (http://www.yws.on.ca) and Save the Children (https://www.savethechildren.ca) .
